梧桐，锦葵目梧桐属，一种落叶乔木。 嫩枝和叶柄多少有黄褐色短柔毛，枝内白色中髓有淡黄色薄片横隔。叶片宽卵形、卵形、三角状卵形或卵状椭圆形，顶端渐尖，基部截形或宽楔形，很少近心形，全缘或有波状齿，两面疏生短柔毛或近无毛。伞房状聚伞花序顶生或腋生；花萼紫红色，5裂几达基部；花冠白色或带粉红色；花柱不超出雄蕊。核果近球形，成熟时蓝紫色。 原产中国，南北各省均有栽培，尤以长江流域为多。现已被引种到欧洲、美洲各地作为观赏树种，多为普通行道树及庭园绿化观赏树。
